Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel
He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Miami in 1992. His pastoral experience in our Archdiocese has been as follows: Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Divine Providence (1982-1984), St. John the Apostle in Hialeah (1984-1987), Our Lady Queen of Martyrs (1987-1989), Associate Rector of St Mary's Cathedral (1991-1993) and Pastor of Prince of Peace (1993-2012). On July 1, 2012 the Archbishop Wenski appointed him pastor of our beloved parish; St. Michael the Archangel.
Father Gerardo has the heart of a shepherd; which no one can deny.
There is no doubt that those early years of his priestly ministry made an impression on him deeply and marked the pastoral style he projects. He lives his ministry as a call from the Lord to "unconditionally serve the People of God" with emphasis on the most vulnerable. His Ordination Motto, was taken from the First Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians 4:1 says. "This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God." He makes emphasis on what "it is just to feel like one more among brethren."
He coursed his priestly studies at the Inter-Diocesan Seminary of San Carlos and San Ambrosio in Havana (1970-1977). His training at the seminary was greatly influenced by Vatican II; in other words, Father Gerardo, as everyone calls him, is the fruit of Vatican II and he is very grateful to God for this blessing.
